Argentine prosecutors have linked disgraced Spanish opera star Plácido Domingo to a criminal group in Buenos Aires. This is held responsible, among other things, for illegal prostitution – including minors.
raids
Argentine media reports According to reports, police last week carried out around 50 raids on the “BA Group”, which operated behind the facade of the yoga studio “Buenos Aires Yoga School”. During the raids, 19 people were arrested and some items were confiscated.
The headlines dominate alleged tape recordings on which Domingo’s voice is said to have been recorded in telephone recordings. According to this, a few years ago he is said to have requested sexual services as a “customer” from a woman named “Mendy”, who worked for the crime ring.
The recordings should be able to hear how the man records the planned sexual encounter. He wanted to sneak away from a dinner to meet the woman undisturbed. Another recording shows “Mendy” calling the alleged leader of the criminal network, Juan Percowicz, to celebrate that everything went smoothly. The name “Plácido” should be mentioned.
sexual allegations
As part of the #MeToo movement, Plácido Domingo has been accused of sexual harassment by a number of women in the past. A total of 20 women had accused Domingo of forcing kisses on them, groping them or stroking them without their consent. The cases date back to the 1980s.
According to media reports, Domingo’s behavior had no consequences for a long time because he seemed untouchable as one of the greatest opera stars in the world. Domingo initially denied the allegations, affirming that all of his sexual relationships and actions were “always welcome and consensual”.
In 2020, Domingo acknowledged his wrongdoing and apologized to the women involved.
