Success in Hockeyettan often means a place in the country’s next highest league.

So also now.

Six of the players in the top ten in the points league 23/24 play in the HockeyAllsvenskan this autumn.

– Those are the two most important years in my career so far, says Oscar Tellström about the time in Mariestad.

Those of you who were aware of the silly season this spring and summer have of course also seen that signings for the HockeyAllsvenskan from Hockeyettan have just poured in.

In total, it is about over 30 players moved up a notch in the league system.

– Yes, it is a sign that Hockeyettan is doing very well, says league manager Mats “Horndal” Johansson.

* Is it purely a record that so many leave for HockeyAllsvenskan?

– It has to be. We’ve only kept statistics since 2019 on upward transitions, but we haven’t been anywhere near this number before, I know that, he says.

One of those who have taken the step up is Oscar Tellström, 22, the forward who scored over 100 points in two seasons in Mariestad BoIS.

– These are the two most important years in my career so far. A really good trip in Mariestad where I developed a lot, both as a hockey player and as a person. I’ve been given a lot of responsibility and good with ice time, and I got some points too, he says to the local newspaper.nu.

The success echoed and he was recruited early this spring to classic Björklöven, who were quick and saw off the talent from little Lycksele.

– It was a fairly simple choice. As soon as Löven showed interest, I got a good feeling. I want to play here, he says.

* Lokaltidningen.nu: What will be the difference going from the first with Mariestad to an Allsvenskan Björklöven that bets against the SHL?

– It will take a lot of hard work from me to show that I belong here, it’s a new level. It’s higher standards, and I love that.
