The General Board of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI) has dispatched all athletes who are currently undergoing national training (Pelatnas) to compete in the 2024 IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, from March 31 to April 11.
PB PABSI General Chair Rosan Roeslani is optimistic that the Indonesian contingent can steal as many tickets as possible to the 2024 Paris Olympics from the 2024 IWF World Cup, which is the final qualification for the world sporting event.
“Of course, this is a qualification that must be compulsorily followed. So we will send all our athletes who have the potential to enter the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said Rosan, Tuesday (26/3).
Currently, the Indonesian weightlifting team has automatically secured two tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics. These tickets have been won in the men’s 61 kg and men’s 73 kg numbers.
However, the determination of lifters who can strengthen the Red and White contingent at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be determined through the 2024 IWF World Cup.
Competition is still going on in the 61 kg number between Eko Yuli Irawan and Ricko Saputra. Meanwhile, in the 73 kg number, Rahmad Erwin Abdullah and Rizky Juniansyah will also compete for one ticket.

“Indeed, if we look at the athletes, we already have four who have qualified for the same two events. However, because of the new Olympic regulations for the same event, we can only send one athlete,” said Rosan Roeslani.
“But there are still other athletes (in numbers) who have the potential to compete in the Olympics. The hope is that we can achieve maximum results in this Qualification,” he added.
Apart from having the opportunity to qualify lifters in the men’s 61 kg and 73 kg classes, Indonesia also has the opportunity to win a ticket to Paris through Windy Cantika Aisah in the women’s 55 kg class provided that she has to lift a total of above 192 kg.

Meanwhile, in the 71 kg class, Tsabitha Ramadani also has the opportunity to qualify if she has a total lift of more than 241 kg. Likewise, Nurul Akmal fell in the +87 kg class with a record of having a total lift of more than 263 kg.
