“All Quiet on the Front” won Best International Film

“Argentina, 1985” might not, this Sunday, add the third Oscar for Argentine cinema. The German film “If New at the Front” won Best International Film. The film by Santiago Mitre, starring Ricardo Darín in the role of prosecutor Julio Strassera, and Peter Lanzani, in that of his deputy Luis Moreno Ocampo, arrived at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony with good feelings, but knew that he was going to have a difficult time with this film that is also competing for Best Film.

After a good harvest of awards since it was imposed during the second half of last year, where it won the Best Film awards in Venice and San Sebastián, in addition to the Goya and the Golden Globe, this year, “Argentina, 1985” was staying somewhat relegated in the consideration of critics, writers and producers in the last round of awards prior to the Oscars.
