Yuen Long, Tuen Mun and Tin Shui Wai experienced major power outages earlier, but within a week, it was Mui Wo’s turn to suffer major power outages. Residents who live in Mui Wo told Yahoo News that the water in their homes was suddenly cut off from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday (25th) because of a burst water pipe at the cooked food stall at Mui Wo Pier, which led to the suspension of fresh water supply in the whole Mui Wo at night. You can only save yourself by buying bottled water. Some residents criticized that the government did not respond quickly to the problem, and many citizens were not provided with water tankers or other support measures at night, which was very inconvenient to citizens with limited mobility.
According to the information of the Water Supplies Department, the “Mui Wo area” in the outlying islands was notified of an emergency shutdown of drinking water at 11:45 pm. The reason was “urgent maintenance of water pipes”.
Some residents said in the middle of the night that the water supply began to be restored in their homes around 12:15 in the morning.
