On September 12, 2024, the MICHELIN Guide revealed the latest additions to its list of one-, two-, and three-key hotels across the United States. This is the second MICHELIN Keys announcement in the country, with selections from across the territory added to a list that previously included hotels only from select locations.
This announcement of the country’s most notable hotels comes after four years of complete renovation of our hotel selection. The MICHELIN Guide now includes more than 5,000 hotels around the world, and none of them are simply a room for the night. These are places that add significantly to your travel experience, each carefully evaluated and rated excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, personality and overall character, value for money /price, as well as a significant contribution to the customer experience in a specific setting.
Which brings us back to the Keys. The result of countless hours of evaluation by our team of experts, the Clefs hotels below represent highlights from our broader selection. Like the MICHELIN Stars for restaurants, the MICHELIN Keys are the supreme distinction for our most remarkable hotels.

The New Three Keys Hotels of the American West
In our second announcement of Clef Hotels in the United States, five new hotels join the exclusive Trois Clefs club. Among them, three are located in the American West: Sage Lodge in Montana, Amangiri in Utah, and Canyon Ranch Tucson in Arizona. Each of these establishments takes advantage of the region’s inspiring landscapes, with Canyon Ranch and Amangiri nestled among spectacular desert landscapes.
The location of Sage Lodge in Pray, Montana, may seem unknown, but this remote ranch has a famous neighbor: its 1,200 acres are just a 30-minute drive from Yellowstone National Park.

The Dewberry — Charleston, South Carolina
Big Winner: Southern Hospitality.
Austin, Texas and Charleston, South Carolina alone added 15 new Clef hotels, a fitting tribute to these two cities often cited among the most dynamic in the United States. The hotel scene has kept pace, with gems such as the Commodore Perry Estate (Austin) and the Dewberry (Charleston), who integrate the history of their buildings into a refined approach to boutique luxury.

The Georgian — Santa Monica, California

Although California did not add any new hotels to the Clefs list in our second announcement on September 12, it is worth revisiting the many Clef properties distinguished in our first announcement in April.
