Also, in the case of Noksan-ro, entry of small vehicles without chains was restricted. When the snow removal is completed, it is expected that Noksan Road will be allowed to pass through.
In the case of roads over mid-mountainous areas, including Road 516, there are partially icy sections, so special attention should be paid to them.
Commissioner Lee Sang-ryul of the Jeju Police Agency visited major controlled road sites such as 1100 Road and asked for careful consideration and attention so that there is no inconvenience caused by excessive control while putting the safety of residents and tourists first.
Aircraft operations have been normalized and take-offs and landings are continuing.
As heavy snow poured down on Jeju from the 22nd, various damages followed.
According to the Jeju Fire and Safety Headquarters, a total of 66 on-site mobilizations were made from 4:00 pm on the 22nd to 12:00 noon on the 24th. Only 297 firefighters and 98 equipment were put in.
At around 10:29 am on the 22nd, two tourists who were exploring Saryeoni Forest Road in Gasi-ri, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si reported that they were isolated in the snow. The fire department frequently located and rescued tourists.
On the 23rd, two vehicles were isolated in a snowstorm in Gwangpyeong-ri, Andeok-myeon. The fire department moved two vehicles to a safe area and assisted the four people in the vehicle to return home safely.
On the same day, at around 1:48 pm, an accident occurred in Jungmun-dong, Seogwipo-si, where two buses carrying middle school students collided.
A sudden stop was made due to the vehicle skidding on the snowy road, and the bus that was making a sudden stop collided with the bus in front.
In the accident, 24 people, including Andeok Middle School students, were injured and transported to hospitals in the province.
In addition, in a series of snowfall accidents and traffic accidents, the injured people were transported to the hospital, and there were also injured people who were hit by falling icicles.
Park Geun-oh, head of the Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “We will continue to establish a preemptive response system according to weather warnings such as typhoons and heavy snowfall, and minimize damage to residents by using the maximum available firefighting power.”
The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that unmelted snow would freeze once more as the temperature dropped below freezing, especially in the mountains. It also urged people to be careful of falls and accidents on back roads and alleys where snow removal is not well done.
