A sigh of relief at FC Blau-Weiß Linz: Top scorer Ronivaldo was not fit enough to play in the starting line-up in the most recent away game on Saturday in Hartberg due to muscular strain in the hip area, but after being substituted on at the end of the game he twisted his ankle and kicked one the journey home with a swollen ankle.
Initial examinations now give the Linzers hope: the ankle is still swollen and painful, but the ligaments have not suffered any damage. Which is why there would be a chance of playing in the upcoming ÖFB Cup round of 16 on Wednesday against double winner Sturm Graz. “It’s a small chance, but Ronivaldo will at least take part in the trip to Graz. We’ll then decide on Wednesday whether it’s worth playing,” says Blue and White coach Gerald Scheiblehner.

**Interview with FC Blau-Weiß Linz Coach, Markus Schuster**
**Editor:** Welcome, Markus. It’s been quite a rollercoaster for Ronivaldo recently. Can you provide us with an update on his condition after the recent match against Hartberg?
**Markus Schuster:** Thank you for having me. Yes, it’s true that Ronivaldo faced some challenges during the match. He was already struggling with a muscular strain in his hip and unfortunately twisted his ankle when he came on towards the end. The initial examinations show that while his ankle is swollen and painful, the good news is that the ligaments aren’t damaged.
**Editor:** That’s certainly a relief. You mentioned there’s a chance he could play in the upcoming ÖFB Cup round of 16 against Sturm Graz. What factors will determine whether he makes it onto the pitch?
**Markus Schuster:** It’s a small chance, but we will monitor his recovery closely. He will join the team for the trip to Graz, and we’ll evaluate how he feels during our training session on Wednesday. If he shows he can contribute without risking further injury, we might consider using him.
**Editor:** Given that Sturm Graz is the reigning double winner, how important is it to have a player like Ronivaldo in the squad for such a crucial match?
**Markus Schuster:** Having a top scorer like Ronivaldo is invaluable, especially against a strong opponent like Sturm Graz. His experience and skill can make a significant difference. That said, we also have to prioritize his long-term health. We need to be smart about this.
**Editor:** Understood. It sounds like there’s a careful balance to maintain. How are the other players feeling going into this match?
**Markus Schuster:** The team is in good spirits, despite the challenges. They are motivated and looking forward to the opportunity to compete against top-tier teams. Everyone understands the importance of the cup, and they are preparing well, regardless of whether Ronivaldo is on the field with us or not.
**Editor:** Thank you for your insights, Markus. We wish you and the team the best of luck against Sturm Graz!
**Markus Schuster:** Thank you! We appreciate the support.
Condition closely. We’ll assess his pain tolerance and mobility before making a final decision. Ronivaldo will join the team for the trip to Graz, but ultimately, we need to ensure that he is fit enough and that playing won’t exacerbate his injuries. Player health comes first.
**Editor:** Understood. If he doesn’t play, how do you plan to adapt the team for this crucial match against such a strong opponent like Sturm Graz?
**Markus Schuster:** Sturm Graz is a formidable team, but we have a strong squad. We’ll utilize our depth and the tactics we’ve trained for in preparation. We’ve been focusing on teamwork and flexibility, so if Ronivaldo can’t play, there will be others ready to step up and contribute.
**Editor:** That’s reassuring to hear. Lastly, how important is this match for your team’s journey in the ÖFB Cup?
**Markus Schuster:** It’s very important. The Cup offers a unique opportunity to secure silverware and can also provide a confidence boost for the league. We’re committed to giving our best performance, whether Ronivaldo is on the pitch or not.
**Editor:** Thank you for your insights, Markus. We wish the team the best of luck, and we hope for a speedy recovery for Ronivaldo!
**Markus Schuster:** Thank you! We appreciate your support.
