“All aspects of the heinous murder will be investigated and the case will be fully elucidated, so that we can see if everything that was required from the official side was done and if the protocol was followed,” said the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, speaking to ANT1 today regarding the new femicide which took place outside the Police Station of Aghii Anargyro.

Regarding the opposition’s proposal that calls for the legalization of the term femicide, he said: “As far as its social dimension is concerned, we absolutely agree with the term femicide, following all, the Prime Minister himself has expressed himself positively in his article” .
However, he added that “as far as the criminal aspect of the matter is concerned, there is clear hypocrisy on the part of the opposition, specifically SYRIZA. We are talking regarding the party that in 2019 passed a law that made life sentences for murder, to life or 15 years in prison. We as ND reinstated the life sentence as the exclusive punishment for these crimes.”
And he continued: “This is a clear trick on the part of SYRIZA, as these crimes carry the ultimate punishment, life imprisonment. So what does SYRIZA propose? Should there be another treatment for femicides? Should the death penalty be reinstated?”
