Shot dead last Sunday night in Hamdallaye, in the town of Ratoma, Mamadou Aliou Barry returned to his final resting place on Monday, March 20, 2023, in Sonfonia Center. The 22-year-old student’s father says his son was shot while he was sitting with his friends making tea. Mamadou Alpha Barry asks the authorities to shed light on this affair, Guineematin.com learned on the spot through one of his reporters.
Questioned this Monday just following the burial in Sonfonia, Mamadou Alpha Barry returned to what happened to his son. “It was on Monday morning that I was informed that my son had been killed. I said where, they told me it was in Hamdallaye. And that he was sitting behind the yard with his friends, watching and making tea. A gendarmerie pick-up from Bambéto, which was passing through, came up to their level to shoot at them. This is where my son died. As soon as they found out my son was dead, they continued on their way. So, it was following that that they transported him to the Jean Paul 2 hospital. But before they got there, he was already dead. This morning I went to the hospital where I asked for my son’s body to be given to me so that I might bury him. They did the paperwork and returned the body to me. We just buried him at 2 p.m. at my home in Sonfonia center here. His name is Mamadou Aliou Barry, 22 years old, a second-year student at the General Lansana Conté University in Sonfonia, in Political Science and an orphan of his mother. It was at 11 p.m. that he was shot, on the head, ”said the father of the family.
Overwhelmed by sadness, Mamadou Alpha Barry asks the authorities to find the murderer of his son. “I will tell the authorities that we are really worried regarding this situation, that someone comes out of nowhere to come and shoot a person who is sitting watching as if it is an animal, and that we remain indifferent in the face of the situation, it makes us suffer a lot. You educate your son until he is big, someone comes and takes his life as if nothing had happened. We ask that the competent authorities help us to find the murderer of my son. Why did he kill him while he was sitting down? Let justice be done,” he said.
