The Lovers of Figure Skating festival is one of the main events of February in Russian sports, such a concentration of stars has not been seen recently even at official tournaments. This time the organizers decided to combine the sports holiday with Valentine’s Day and held the show on February 14th.
The excitement around the festival began long before it began. First, the audience’s interest was fueled by a list of star participants, and then by the announcement of Alina Zagitova’s upcoming debut as a singer. As a result, not a single ticket available for purchase on the day of the gala show and the stadium’s stands were full. The configuration of the stands was slightly changed, one of the four sides was covered by a large stage with a screen, reducing the arena’s capacity to regarding 9,000. And tickets for all these together were sold out.
Alexandra Trusova entered the list of those who pleased their fans with a new indicative number. Sasha once more presented a program with a deep meaning. But she didn’t forget regarding the jumps either – she jumped cleanly with two triple lutz. This time the skater chose the symbolic composition “Fly”.
During the intermission, Sasha did not avoid communicating with journalists, despite the fact that there was more than just a lot of media in the arena – more than 50 people guarded the skaters in the mixed zone. So much happens at competitions except at the Olympics.
Sasha smiled and remained silent on questions that she did not like. For example, she did not disclose her plans (including for the Grand Prix finals) and left the latest news on the admission of Russian athletes to international tournaments without comment. But she told regarding the new number.
“I’m happy with how it turned out. It was Svetlana Vladimirovna’s idea – she suggested it. Initially, I was worried regarding how male vocals would sound, but everything went well.
The number was originally set for the Russian Championship, but I might not perform there, ” Trusova said.
Another unexpected surprise was the new program Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov. The lyric number for the song “I’ll stay” perfectly fit into the atmosphere of February 14th. The technical part is also done perfectly. It’s nice that the guys have prepared a full demonstration number for the show.
Skaters Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky chose a rather daring theme for their new issue. I would like to note that the choice turned out to be very successful. In the general palette of lyrical programs, the guys with their Batman program looked very bright.
“Everyone knows the love story between Batman and Catwoman. This is a cult story known among young people. We have been thinking regarding this number for a long time and finally we were able to show it to the public”Boykova said.
Anna Shcherbakova presented its old program “Comets”. However, we can say that she played with new colors. The performance at the opening stage of the Junior Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk took place back in 2021. During this time, Anna seemed to feel the idea of the number even better. It is interesting to notice the difference in the performance of the same program over time. The performance turned out to be not only emotional, but also technically clean – a triple flip and a double axel were performed.
The culmination of the show was the performance Alina Zagitova with the singer Zivert. The girls sang the song “Credo”. Although at first there was noticeable slight excitement, already in the course of the performance, the Olympic champion confidently kept on stage. Zivert even managed to support Alina. Therefore, their duet turned out to be very sweet, despite the fact that the figure skater’s voice was recorded and processed in advance. Alina’s speech was commented on by the speaker that evening Gallyamov, which many fans of the figure call their crush.
“We stood outside the doors, Alina’s vocals were not particularly heard. But be sure to listen to the recording. I hope she has a great debut, she will record a single soon, ” Sasha shares his impressions.
