Alimony: census and data processing are in charge of the Treasury

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Finance recalls that older adults who wish to benefit from Alimony must register with the Municipality of the community where they live and, subsequently, be registered at their home.

The identification and selection process for potential beneficiaries is mandatory, with the application of the Home File through the census, the census takers of the Ministry of Finance come to survey the living conditions of the registered people.

The census and processing of the collected data fall under the jurisdiction of the application body, that is, the Directorate of Non-Contributory Pensions (DPNC) under the Ministry of Finance.

It is recalled that the district designee is the person appointed by the Municipal Board and formally accredited before the Ministry of Finance to carry out procedures related to Alimony. All procedures are free, at no cost to the elderly, and to date Law No. 3728/2009, its amendments and/or extensions, are still in force.

The conditions to be a beneficiary of the Program are:

  • Be sixty-five (65) years of age or older; be of natural Paraguayan nationality; or by naturalization (at least 5 years of seniority); or foreigners with at least 30 years of residence, establish domicile in Paraguayan territory
  • Have the application of the household record whose result arises the range of Quality of Life Index (ICV) that qualifies you in a situation of social vulnerability and qualifies you as a beneficiary of the subsidy
  • Not receive any economic benefit in the field of Social Security (social security, does not include medical insurance)
  • Not receive income from the public or private sector; and not have pending cases with Justice.

Any citizen can make complaints regarding cases that they consider do not meet the conditions to be part of the Program. In this sense, the Enforcement Body has attention and verification mechanisms for these cases, always safeguarding the identity of the complainant.
