Alikhanov: Construction of a bridge across the Kaliningrad Bay does not fit into the transport logistics of the region

Model provided by the government of the Kaliningrad region

In the current political situation, the construction of an automobile bridge across the Kaliningrad Bay does not fit into the transport logistics of the region. This was announced by the regional governor Anton Alikhanov at a meeting with heads of local media on Thursday, December 29.

“Initially, I doubted the implementation of the project to build a bridge across the Kaliningrad Bay. And now I understand that at the current moment, asking the federal budget for 40 billion rubles for this bridge, taking into account the tasks that our country is now facing … Probably, this is frivolous, ”the head of the region believes.

The route was designed as part of a transport corridor between the countries of Western Europe, the Baltic states and Russia. But now, because of the sanctions, the plans have lost their relevance. The regional government intends to pay more attention to maritime transportation through the ports of Baltiysk and Kaliningrad.
