O AliExpress started applying the rules of the Conformal Shipment program for international purchases. The change was noticed by several users this Sunday (15), with products below US$50 now no longer paying federal taxes.
ICMS of 17% is charged automatically during the purchase payment process. On the other hand, orders that exceed US$50 also pay 60% in federal taxes.
With the implementation of Conformal Shipping, the Chinese retailer claims that orders will now reach consumers more quickly, as they are exempt from manual verification by the Federal Revenue Service.
AliExpress also highlights on its home page a series of products that are already in Brazil and have a shorter delivery time.
In a note sent to the press, AliExpress said:
Reinforcing our commitment to continue seeking the best experience for Brazilian consumers, Remessa Compliance will be implemented on October 15th. Customers will be able to pay applicable taxes at the time of purchase and enjoy extra discounts, as well as greater predictability and security in delivery.
With the change implemented, the IRS must receive order information and tax payments even before the products leave China.
Thus, the agency will carry out risk management of orders before the aircraft arrives and release low-risk products immediately following scanning.
This should allow the Post Office to quickly receive purchases and forward them to distribution centers for subsequent delivery.
It is worth remembering that Shein, Shopee and other retailers already apply Conformal Shipping. The program has also been a source of protest from national retailers.
