Alienware has released its new m18 gaming laptop, an upgrade to the existing m17 R5. Alienware calls this the “most powerful 18-inch AMD Advantage laptop” on the market. AMD Advantage here means that the laptop uses AMD chips, processors and display chips. The m18 is equipped with AMD’s Ryzen 7945HX processor, coupled with the new AMD Radeon RX 7900M display chip, which claims to be able to achieve “desktop-level” visual effects even when playing the latest AAA masterpieces. The m18’s Ryzen 9 7945HX processor has 16 cores and 32 threads, and uses AMD’s exclusive Zen 4 small chip technology and is produced on the latest 5nm process to improve performance. The RX 7900M has 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM and brings second-generation light pursuit acceleration. The laptop will also be equipped with AMD’s Adrenaline Edition software suite, which allows you to allocate power between the GPU and CPU through the SmartShift tool to optimize your current work. Alienware Of course, gaming laptops are not just regarding processors and discrete graphics, heat dissipation is equally important. In the m18, Alienware equipped four thin fans to blow cold air through eight heat pipes to take away the heat from the CPU and GPU. As for the screen, the 18-inch panel has a 16:10 QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600) resolution and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. You can also sacrifice a bit of resolution to increase the refresh rate to 480Hz. Other specifications include dual-channel DDR5 memory, up to three M.2 SSDs for a total capacity of 8.5TB, and FHD resolution cameras and IR cameras. m18 pricing starts at US$2,800.
