The former Chief of General Staff of the Gabonese Armed Forces, General Auguste Roger Bibaye Itandas admitted to asserting his rights to retirement has just been recalled to the government by Ali Bongo Ondimba to clean up the Ministry of Transport described as the he is one of the most failing in the country because of chronic laxity on the part of leaders at all levels.
The former occupant, Brice Constant Paillat had resigned, swept away by the sinking of the ship Esther Miracle. This drama was felt by the government as revealing poor governance in the transport sector, all segments included (maritime, land and rail).
Ali Bongo Ondimba has therefore placed at the head of this department a servant of the State with a busy career.
General Roger-Auguste Bibaye Itandas, senior officer of the Gabonese armed forces served in Bangui in the Central African Republic where he was the commander of the Multinational Force of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa in the Central African Republic (FOMUC) from September 9 2004 to July 12, 2008.
In the Central African Republic, he had replaced his compatriot, the Gabonese general Jean-Claude Ella-Ekhoga who ended his career as chief of staff of the Gabonese armed forces. Prior to this appointment, General Roger-Auguste Bibaye-Itandas was the spokesperson for FOMUC, at the rank of colonel.
