Libreville – August 19, 2022.-The President of the Republic, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba met today at the Palais Rénovation with his Counterpart and Brother, HE Mr. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe, President of the Togolese Republic, accompanied by an important delegation.
The President of the Togolese Republic thanked the Gabonese Head of State for the kind invitation addressed to him to pay a visit of Work and Friendship to Gabon, testimony of the fraternity which unites them. He then took this opportunity to congratulate the President of the Republic and the Gabonese people for the perfect organization of the festivities marking the celebration of the 62nd anniversary of our country’s accession to international sovereignty.
The two Heads of State also reviewed bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their firm desire to strengthen it and raise it to a higher level, by organizing regular consultations in various fields, in particular Security, Economy , Trade as well as the climate issue which will be addressed during the African Climate Week to be held in Libreville from August 29 to September 2, 2022.
The accession of Gabon and Togo to the Commonwealth on June 25 was discussed at length by the Gabonese and Togolese Presidents during this interview in which the Honorable Patricia Scotland also took part,
Secretary General of the said Organization, staying in our country as part of the celebration of our National Day.
The Head of State and his Togolese counterpart intend to seize all the opportunities offered by this Institution to accelerate the implementation of their respective development strategies.
Finally, the two personalities discussed issues of common interest on the continental and international scene.
