SAINT-PETERSBOURG (Russia)- Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane affirmed, Friday evening in Saint-Petersburg, that the positive growth indicators achieved by Algeria in recent years make it the portal to Africa under of the strategic partnership between Africa and Russia.
In a statement to the press, on the sidelines of his participation as representative of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in the work of the 2nd “Russia-Africa” Summit and its Economic and Humanitarian Forum, Mr. Aïmene Benabderrahmane indicated that “the visit of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Russia, last June, allowed the signing of the Declaration of deep Algerian-Russian partnership and gave a great impetus to bilateral relations, which erects the Algeria as a portal to access Africa”.
“We are working on this approach put in place by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Russian counterpart, with a view to moving forward towards the consecration of the deep partnership, which will give great impetus to bilateral relations, knowing that Algeria is Russia’s second largest trading partner in Africa,” he added.
Among the economic indicators recorded by Algeria, the Prime Minister cited the increase in individual income to 4,800 dollars, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of around 255 billion dollars and a record growth rate that might reach more than 5% in 2023, in the absence of external debt.
He added that this had been materialized thanks to the economic dynamics that Algeria is experiencing, in the context of the measures taken by the State and the role of the new law on investment which made it possible to adopt projects whose value exceeds 7.2 billion USD, which would create 50,000 jobs.
In addition, the Prime Minister visited Algeria’s stand within the framework of the international exhibition organized on the occasion of the “Africa-Russia” Summit and its Economic and Humanitarian Forum.
During his exchanges with the participating economic operators, Mr. Benabderrahmane stressed the importance of investment in various sectors, taking advantage of the potential offered by the national economy, particularly in the field of services.
In this regard, he highlighted the great potential that Algeria holds, particularly in tourism and digital technologies, for the creation of wealth and jobs.
The Prime Minister also affirmed that the public authorities had guaranteed all the facilitations, and taken a series of incentive measures for the benefit of exporting companies, adding that the Higher Council of Exporters will be “soon” created to take charge of the concerns. export operators.
