Algeria’s foreign minister arrives in Damascus with a message for Assad

Yesterday, Sunday, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, for a two-day working visit, according to a statement by the Algerian Foreign Ministry.

In the statement, the Foreign Ministry said: “In his capacity as a special envoy of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra, in the Syrian capital, Damascus, visited” yesterday, a two-day working visit.

She added that Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad was received by Lamamra at Damascus International Airport.

She stated that Lamamra’s visit to Damascus comes in the wake of the recent visit of the Syrian Foreign Minister to Algeria, to participate in the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the restoration of national sovereignty, during which he was received by President Tebboune, as well as a working session with Lamamra.

The Algerian diplomat indicated that it is expected that Lamamra will be received by the Syrian higher authorities, and that he will hold talks with his counterpart, Faisal Miqdad.
