A specialized website showed that Algerians spent over the past year more than 31 million euros, which are the fees for obtaining entry visas to the European Union “Schengen” countries.
According to the “Schengen Visa Info” website, Algerians submitted more than 392,000 “Schengen” visa applications during the year 2022.
The cost of applications for obtaining these visas was 31.3 million euros, or 4.6 billion Algerian dinars.
The site said that Spain came at the forefront of the countries to which Algerians submitted visa applications during the past year, explaining that 26 percent of the total visa applications went to Spanish consulates.
In detail, 102,000 applications were submitted at the Spanish consulates in Algiers and Oran, at an estimated cost of 8.2 million euros.
France and Italy came in second place, with 41,000 visa applications submitted to France, at a value of 3.2 million euros, and 17,000 applications to Italy, at a cost of 1.4 million euros.
Germany came fourth, as Algerians’ visa applications to that country cost 487,000 euros, while applications to Belgium, which is the fifth destination, cost 480,000 euros.
According to the site, Algerians are ranked fifth in terms of submitting applications for a “Schengen” visa.
