Algerian president signs 2023 finance law

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affixed his signature on Sunday in Algiers to the text of the finance law for the year 2023.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of senior state officials and members of the government.

The 2023 budget was developed on a reference price of a barrel of crude oil at 60 US dollars for the period 2023-2025 and a market price at 70 dollars.

Algeria expects to export goods worth $46.3 billion in fiscal year 2023, $46.4 billion in 2024, and $45.8 billion in 2025.

In addition, the text provides for a growth rate of 4.1% in 2023 and 4.4% in 2024, as well as an inflation level of 5.1% in 2023 and 4.5% in 2024, then 4% in 2025.

The 2023 finance law, adopted by the two chambers of parliament, comes in a context of recovery of the Algerian economy, thanks to a rise in Brent prices and a surplus trade balance, noted local observers.
