Algeria-Gambia match canceled due to Covid-19

This Saturday, January 1, 2022, Algeria was to face Gambia in a friendly match in Qatar, where it is preparing for the African Cup of Nations (which will start on January 9 in Cameroon).

But the match was canceled because the Gambian team is decimated by the Covid-19. Its coach, Tom Saintfiet, is private 16 players out of the 28 selected for CAN 2022!

The Gambian Federation made the announcement on Saturday and also called off their scheduled friendly against Syria on Wednesday, January 5. A blow for the Scorpions as they prepare to play the first CAN in their history.

Faced with a fait accompli, the Algerian Federation hopes to be able to replace this friendly match with an opposition against a Qatari club.
