Algerian authorities and their counterparts in Western Sahara are taunting Morocco over a victory they say they have won over the Cherifian kingdom.
The participation of Brahim Ghali, President of the SADR (Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic) in the work of the 6th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the European Union and the African Union is considered a victory for the Polisario Front. Better, Algiers even evokes a humiliation inflicted on Morocco.
The Kingdom of Morocco is accused of having tried everything to prevent the Saharawi President, Brahim Ghali, from taking part in the EU-AU Summit. Amar Belani, Special Envoy of Algeria, in charge of the Western Sahara and Maghreb countries, denounced that Morocco has not ceased to multiply “the maneuvers and the pressures to hinder the participation of the SADR in this important diplomatic meeting.
Therefore, “the speech of Brahim Ghali during the work of the peace and security round table in which many African and European heads of state participated constitutes a deafening slap in the face and a scathing humiliation for Morocco”, considers the head of mission , who mocks that President Ghali even had, on the sidelines of the Summit, the privilege of having “numerous bilateral meetings with his peers, including with the head of the Spanish government”.
For her part, Brahim Ghali’s adviser, Nana Labaat Rachid, via a post published on her Facebook page, considered that the presence of the leader of the Polisario Front at the EU-AU summit constitutes “an important step on the way to completing the national sovereignty over all the occupied territories”. It should be noted that the invitation to this summit addressed to Brahim Ghali was perceived on the side of Rabat as a will of Europe to seek estrangement with the Cherifian Kingdom.
