An Air Algerie flight sparked controversy, following it launched a few days ago with many empty seats from Oran to Adrar, and prevented Algerian passengers from getting on board, due to a verbal altercation with some officials in the company.
As a result of this incident, the investigative judge of the Sania Court in Oran, on Thursday, ordered the temporary detention of two employees of Air Algerie, while 3 others were placed under judicial supervision, according to the website “”day“.
The website stated that “the deposit order came on charges of abuse of position. After a plane took off from Ahmed Ben Bella International Airport towards Adrar Airport, it was almost empty, despite the presence of dozens of travelers at Oran Airport.”
Taboun vows
The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had spoken during a television interview at the beginning of August regarding the incident of the Air Algerie flight.
Tebboune vowed to “confront such practices that hinder the implementation of his reforms.” He said that a group of young people were denied boarding the plane from Oran to Adrar due to a dispute with some officials in Air Algerie, adding that such officials are the ones who will fill the prisons in the future.
The community website indicated that the Algerian presidency is closely following this priority issue, especially following the dismissal of the former director general of airlines, and the appointment of the new director, Yassin Ben Suleiman, as his successor, regarding two months ago.
Air Algerie did not make any comment on the court ruling.
