The lights of the Alfonso Lastras Stadium failed during the Atlético San Luis vs Bravos de Juárez match. It was the 73rd minute of the match on Matchday 14 of the Liga MX, when, following a VAR review, the light started intermittently. The confrontation was suspended.

As announced by Liga MX, the match will be resumed under the same sporting conditions from the same minute in which the interruptions began, starting at 9:30.

After the floodlights in the stadium began to partially turn on and off indiscriminately, and even went completely off for a few seconds, referee Óscar Mejía stopped the actions with a score tied at 2-2.

The stands, for their part, reacted with some shouts and even resorted to turning on the lights on their phones, so that there were some eye-catching images but they did not allow the match to develop. They even made some waves in the public while there were discussions with the refereeing body and people from the league to define.

The Liga MX made it official minute by minute on its website that the match was “momentarily suspended” by the refereeing body because the necessary conditions to carry out the match were not in place.

According to information from Jorge Pietrasanta, who narrated the match on the ESPN network, producer Charly Álvarez Espejel assured that they were restarting the software controlling the lights in the stadium, which had the failure.

People from the stadium or Iñigo Regueiro, the club’s sports director, quickly joined the conversations on the field and explained to each other the origin of the failure in the lights.

After the 90th minute of running time, the refereeing team began to leave the field of play. Meanwhile, the players also headed to the locker room without knowing what would happen.

In a statement, Liga MX announced that the match would be paused for a few minutes in order to remedy the failure and continue with the match later.

Moments later, Karen Peña, a reporter for the ESPN network, assured that the match would be completely suspended until a new date. In the stadium, on the other hand, they asked the public for 5 more minutes to make a decision regarding what will happen with the game.

Subsequently, it was made official that the match would be suspended and rescheduled for the same Monday, at a time to be confirmed, and would restart from the 73rd minute.
