Alfons Godall leaves Barça after his controversial tweet about Nadal

Alfons Godall, former director in the first stage of Joan Laporta in the club, and until now vice-president of the Foundation has announced that he was leaving this position due to the controversy generated by a tweet in which he defined Rafa Nadal as “representative of the enemy state”.

While the official Barça account congratulated the Majorcan tennis player for winning his 21st Grand Slam in Australia, Godall had charged an athlete whom he renamed “Christmas”. “Raphael Christmas It has creeped me out from day one. I have him in the same bag as La Roja, the RM, Fernando Alonso and everything that represents the enemy state.”

After the controversy generated, Godall announced this Wednesday that he was leaving the Foundation. “The tweet with my opinion regarding a famous person and his profile might harm the Foundation due to pressure from some companies and the media. I don’t want to cost Barça a penny or give up freedom of expression. Consequently, I resign from the position. ¡¡ Thank you!” he explained.
