Alfa Romeo today unveiled the latest sports car, dubbed the 33 Stradale, in keeping with the tradition established back in the 1960s by the then racing division of the Italian company.
The car will be released in a limited edition of only 33 copies and is a completely uncompromising, almost mid-engined racing car, but still designed for ordinary motorways, and not for autodromes. It will be equipped with either a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 620 hp or an electric power plant developing over 750 hp.
As CEO Jean-Philip Imparato stated in today’s highly pompous presentation of the car, “The new 33 Stradale was created to underline our identity, reinforce our drive to succeed and embody our DNA and our values.
This is the first such development of our company since 1969, and I can promise that it will not be the last. It brings Alfa Romeo back to the “Supercar Club” that we co-founded. We wanted to create something that would be in line with our historical heritage and serve the brand today, so that its fans might be proud of.
The words regarding the historical heritage were not said by chance: in 1967, a sports car was created, which was called exactly the same – Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, developed by the famous designer Franco Scaglione, which is still considered one of the most beautiful cars in the history of the automotive industry.
The release of the new machine with a composite monocoque with two aluminum subframes is scheduled for 2024. All 33 cars are said to be pre-ordered, but no word yet on how much Alfa Romeo’s latest supercar will cost.
