Alexis Sánchez Calls Out Chilean Football Infrastructure – ANFP’s Promise to Improve Facilities

Alexis Sánchez spoke and did not hold anything back. The historic scorer of the Chilean team launched heavy artillery at the press conference this Saturday, two days following the departure of Eduardo Berizzo from La Roja following the draw with Paraguay. In his capacity as a reference for the Golden Generation, he launched a series of criticisms towards the reality of Chilean football and, particularly, with the infrastructure tools they have to be able to perform accordingly.

“In Juan Pinto Durán I would like to have a proper court, or a shower. There are three showers that do not work and you have to wait for the other person to shower. A team cannot work like this,” Sánchez said. He also criticized the state of the Colo Colo venue, where La Roja is home without having the Nacional: “In the Monumental stadium I was sitting, stretching and excrement from ourselves in the shower came out of the drain. Is it a national team or a Third Division team?”

As expected, Sánchez’s statements generated a series of reactions. One of them was from Leonardo Farkas, businessman and philanthropist, who used his social networks to offer financial help to make repairs to the La Roja bunker. “My followers send me. It cannot be that our National Team does not even have quality showers in Juan Pinto Durán. Tell whoever it may concern where I deposited 20 million to improve those facilities. What a shame. “I didn’t believe it until I saw Alexis’ video,” said Farkas.

Like the Inter forward’s statements, what the Chilean millionaire said generated noise in the air. During the night of this Saturday, Alexis Sánchez responded to this offer. He did so using his official X account (ex Twitter), thanking him for the help but that the ANFP was going to take charge of the corresponding arrangements.

“Hello friend Farkas, thank you for always wanting to help, but I just spoke with the president of the ANFP, they will solve the showers, the cold water that is important for recovery, etc… He also promised to improve the facilities for the women’s football in SHORT TERM. The idea is that future generations have quality tools like the Chilean National Team deserves,” the player posted.

Furthermore, in the final part, he sends a direct message to the philanthropist in reference to the Universidad de Chile stadium, that desire of so many years for the supporters of the secular club. “Better friend Leonardo, let’s put it 50/50 to build the stadium for the U hahaha,” Sánchez sealed.
