SANTO DOMINGO.- FThe presidential candidacy of Dr. Alexis Joaquín Castillo 2024-2028 was proclaimed this Sunday by the entity called “Solidaridad y Alianza Nueva República”, with the support of various associations and community and political movements.

In a speech that was broadcast by a chain of national and international channels, Castillo presented part of his government plan and advocated for a better Dominican Republic “where citizens can enjoy true peace, tranquility and an ideal environment with the application of public policies in favor of the well-being of the family.

At the event, at Club San Carlos, he expressed the opinion that the current authorities have been incapable of guaranteeing citizen security, which is why he presents a national project in which he integrates all political forces, with solutions to the ills that affect the country.

“In the next few days, Solidarity will request an interview with the President of the Republic, just to present him with the report of our expert criminologists, whose summary highlights an immediate solution to the scourge of crime and violence that prevail in the country,” he added.

In the area of ​​justice, Castillo stated that “we are a different option and alternative, which advocates reforms to the Dominican Constitution that allow us to give way to the recall mandate and really have an independent Public Ministry.”

FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND IMPUNITY

He said that he will fiercely combat corruption and impunity from the State, and will seek “the transformation of the poorly designed Dominican democracy.”

He advocated a “punishment vote” in the next elections once morest “those who have done nothing for the country.”

He assured that he will work for a better economy, for education, a comprehensive quality health system with free medicines and for the State to assume absolute control of the health risk insurers (ARS).

He deplored the high cost of the family basket and highlighted the need for a fair and indexed salary for workers, to give greater assistance to agriculture and the informal market (workers, vendors and small-timers) for whom he considers there should be greater incentives from the government .

He said that to the conscious business community “we will open the doors of the Palace and we will do it without hindrances or obstacles, making them a participant in the integral and productive development of the nation.”

He expressed that he will direct his efforts in favor of youth, sports and, above all, protect the sovereignty of the nation, for which he will fight once morest those politicians who live from the business of trafficking and the transfer of undocumented immigrants at the border.

Alexis Joaquín Castillo was born in the Villa Juana sector, in the upper part of Santo Domingo, the son of teacher Laura Mercedes Cabrera. He studied at the Santa Lucía and Loyola educational centers, and graduated as a lawyer from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), with a master’s degree in criminal law and criminal procedural law.
