Greece must move to a new productive model, enriching and expanding its wealth-producing potential, in order to adapt to the period that will begin following the end of the Recovery Fund projects, and the Intrakat Group is already moving dynamically in this direction.
This was stated by the Vice President of the Board of Directors. and CEO of the Intrakat Group, Mr. Alexandros Exarchou, speaking in a discussion regarding Greece 10 years later, with the participation of the Government Representative and Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Pavlos Marinakis, the General Manager, Corporate & Investment Banking of the National Bank , Mr. Vassilis Karamouzis, the General Manager of IBM Greece, Mr. Nikos Maniatis and the President of SETE and General Manager of Athens International Airport, Mr. Yiannis Parashis, at 9The Delphi Economic Forum.
Mr. Exarchou pointed out that, once morest all predictions, Greece managed to be saved from bankruptcy, which was a miracle. However, he stressed that much remains to be done before the country is transformed into a more developed economy. For example, as he noted, the production model is mainly based on tourism and consumption. And he commented that Greece must acquire strong foundations for a stronger economy and move decisively in this direction, aiming for an economy that will export, producing wealth and value.
In addition, he underlined the need to make this goal national and to observe it in a spirit of unity by all governments and political parties, but also to preserve the progress made during the previous decade, which was the result of great sacrifices of the Greek people, adding that, as the precedent of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine showed, international events can cause unexpected disturbances in the economy.
Planning for the post-RRF era
Mr. Exarchou also referred to Intrakat Group’s planning for the post-RRF era, as he pointed out that today we may be experiencing the peak of business activity in the construction industry due to the large backlog, however in the near future traditional public works will disappear. Thus, the purpose of the Group is to properly prepare for this possibility, aiming to undertake PPP projects and concessions in Greece and Romania, in which the group seeks to be even more active.
The head of Intrakat described PPPs and concessions as a great opportunity and emphasized that the company is actively investing in this sector because it promises stable revenue streams in the future, offering financial security and stability. The other main pillar of Intrakat, noted Mr. Exarchou, will be the strengthening of the company’s presence in Romania, a country with huge infrastructure needs, but also guaranteed resources from the European Union, as well as with significant geopolitical value that can ensure in the future the work that will be missing from Greece.
And there, he continued, the Group will aim to undertake PPP projects and concessions, a methodology that is quite new for the neighboring country. While, he added that another feature of Romania is that it will also be a “bridge” for the reconstruction of Ukraine when the war is over, which is a matter of top importance for everyone.
At the same time, Intrakat is strengthening its position in Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and in this context the strategic cooperation agreement with PPC Group, for the development of RES projects with a capacity of up to 2.7 GW, with a potential investment worth 1 billion. euro.
