The Ministry of Transport announced receiving the first batch of 6 electric yard cranes forTahya Misr station The multi-purpose port of Alexandria TMT, which is considered one of the most important projects implemented in the field of maritime transport, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to make Egypt a global center for trade and logistics and the development of all Egyptian seaports.

These cranes are the first in Egypt and operate using electrical connection poles, which are used in handling container yards. The components of the cranes were unloaded from the ship on the berths of the TMT station, which are ready to receive the ships. The landing process took four days under the supervision of a team of experts from the company The German Liebherr and the company operating the station and the Egyptian trained workers, pointing out that the process of assembling these cranes has begun on the yard of the TMT station under the supervision of the same team, and the installation and processing period is expected to reach (6 weeks) of hard work.

This achievement coincides with the intensification of the companies executing the project, namely EDEX International and Al-Garabli Company for Integrated Engineering Works and under the supervision of the project consultant, Dar Al-Handasah Company – Egypt in order to complete the implementation of administrative and service buildings, as well as facilities for infrastructure, and paving squares and roads for the station yard, which amount to Its area is half a million square meters, noting that the construction of the berths for the station has been completed, with a length of 5.2 km, with drafts from 14 m to 17.5 m. It is also expected to receive the second batch of yard cranes with a total of (6) other cranes by the end of this month, in order to complete the installation and testing works.

It is worth noting that the Egyptian Group for Multi-Purpose Stations, the commercial arm of the Ministry of Transport, has carried out the tendering and evaluation work for the suppliers in cooperation with the French company CMA CGM, the operator of the station, and a trial run for general goods and cars is planned for the middle of next July.
