Alexandre Bouglione Opens Up about the Personal Difficulties of Adapting to the Government Decision to Ban Wild Animals in Circuses

Alexandre Bouglione was the guest of Thomas de Bergeyck this Friday morning. Asked regarding the 2014 government decision banning the possession and use of wild animals in circuses, the circus boss confided having suffered “for two years” and having had a hard time being considered a person who ” mistreats animals.

Alexandre Bouglione, patron of the circus, represents the 6th generation of the famous dynasty. While his circus is currently installed on the stage of the Atomium in Brussels, Alexandre Bouglione spoke regarding the personal difficulties he went through when he had to comply with the government decision to ban the keeping and using wild animals in his circus. “Frankly, I was on the verge of suicide, he replied to our journalist and presenter Thomas de Bergeyck. Because I’ve been doing this my whole life and I loved my animals.”

“Have you really thought regarding ending your life?”lui demande Thomas de Bergeyck. “Yes really”replies Alexandre Bouglione who specifies having been unwell for two years. “I mightn’t take it anymore because you are [considéré] like a criminal. Asked regarding the lack of space his circus animals benefited from, Alexandre Bouglione justified himself. “They’re in prison in a circus, if you put them in a zoo, well the prison is bigger, that’s all.”estimates the boss who adds that it would then be necessary to prohibit the confinement of animals wherever they are. “in a circus, in a zoo and also goldfish in a bowl”.
