Eminent political advisor within the national coordination in the referendum campaign, Professor Alexandre Barro Chambrier, in clear language, explained the advantages provided by the new constitution to the Gabonese people.
“If it is true that certain provisions remain perfectible, because no human work is perfect, we believe that, overall and for the most part, this draft constitution will restore our Dignity. This Constitution will limit presidential mandates by favoring political alternation, while allowing the return to the constitutional order necessary for the continuation of the reforms initiated more than a year ago and of which each and everyone are witnesses in the sectors of the employment, infrastructure, education with the return of scholarships and the revaluation of retirement pensions, to name but a few”, explained Mr. Barro Chambrier before calling on the people to vote massively for “yes” in the next referendum which will be held on November 16.
In a mega meeting organized at the Awendje roundabout in 4e district of Libreville, its political fold, “ABC”, made the audience understand that the new fundamental law which will be submitted for approval or not to the Gabonese people on November 16, constitutes a democratic step forward for Gabon.
The former fierce opponent of the deposed Ali Bongo regime (August 30, 2023), who became Deputy Prime Minister of the Transition, did not fail to make his brothers and sisters aware of the imperative need to vote, in spirit patriotic, for the “yes” to the next referendum which will mark the birth of the 2e Gabonese Republic.

**Interview with Professor Alexandre Barro Chambrier on the New Gabonese Constitution**
**Editor:** Good afternoon, Professor Chambrier. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the new constitution in Gabon. As an eminent advisor in the referendum campaign, could you briefly outline the primary advantage that you believe this constitution will bring to the Gabonese people?
**Professor Chambrier:** Good afternoon, and thank you for having me. The primary advantage of the new constitution is that it aims to restore the dignity of the Gabonese people. For too long, our political system has been marked by stagnation and a lack of true representation. This constitution will impose limits on presidential mandates, promoting political alternation, which is essential for a vibrant democracy.
**Editor:** That’s an important point. You mentioned the restoration of dignity and political alternation. How do you see these changes impacting the everyday lives of Gabonese citizens?
**Professor Chambrier:** By ensuring that leadership changes more regularly, we create an environment where citizens feel their voices matter. This constitution encourages participation in the democratic process and ensures that the government is more accountable to the people. It empowers citizens to expect change and engage in the political dialogue—ultimately leading to better governance and improved living conditions.
**Editor:** You acknowledged that certain provisions of the constitution could still be improved. Can you elaborate on that?
**Professor Chambrier:** Absolutely. While we believe that the draft constitution is a significant step forward, no human creation is without flaws. There are areas that can be perfected through feedback from the populace as we move forward. It’s crucial that we continue to engage in discussions about these provisions to ensure that our constitution evolves and remains relevant to the needs of the people.
**Editor:** That sounds promising. what message would you like to convey to the Gabonese citizens as they prepare to vote on this important constitutional change?
**Professor Chambrier:** I urge the Gabonese people to take this opportunity seriously. This constitution is not just a legal document; it represents a chance for renewal and empowerment. I encourage everyone to participate actively in the referendum and to vote for a future that upholds our dignity and paves the way for a truly democratic Gabon.
**Editor:** Thank you, Professor Chambrier, for sharing your insights with us today. Your passion for political reform in Gabon is evident, and we appreciate your time.
**Professor Chambrier:** Thank you! It’s been a pleasure discussing this important issue.
