Alexander Skarsgard found filming his cloning sequence in ‘Infinity Pool’ “rather boring”.
The 46-year-old actor stars in Brandon Cronenberg’s horror film as James Foster, an author who finds himself trapped on a particularly disturbing vacation. Although the film’s hallucinatory edits are a visual spectacle, he admitted that most of the work went into the technical elements.
He told CinemaBlend, “Shooting these sequences is kind of boring because it’s very technical. I love those sequences in the film and with the music and they’re so… they bring up something very interesting in you. The shoot is definitely less, I mean romantic, but less exciting. »
However, Alexander enjoyed seeing Brandon and his team at work.
He added, “It’s technical, but those days were also a lot of fun on set, because Brandon [Cronenberg] and Karim Hussain, his director of photography, have worked together for many years. They are like little children playing with LEGOs on the set. »
Brandon and cinematographer Karim Hussain played around with different lighting and visual techniques during filming, which Alexander says made the shoot more exciting.
He said: “They played with so many different shots, different filters, different liquids, and weird mirrors and boxes that they wanted us to go into because they were filming them and it was very creative and innovative. and tactile because everything was done on set in camera, as opposed to post-production with CGI. So I was very enthusiastic regarding the idea of shooting these sequences. »
