Alexander Ritschard Falls to Jaume Munar in Gstaad: Swiss Open 2023 First Round Match Analysis

2023-07-17 11:43:33

Alexander Ritschard (ATP 163) suffered like last year the law of Jaume Munar (110) in the Swiss Open of Gstaad. The Zurich native lost 6-3 6-3 in 75′ to the Spaniard in the first round of the 2023 edition.

Finalist of the Lyon Challenger survey last month on clay, Alexander Ritschard never had a chance in the Roy Emerson Arena. The 29-year-old from Zurich, who benefited as in 2022 from an invitation to the Bernese Oberland, thus only obtained one break point.

Alexander Ritschard has certainly converted his only opportunity to raise. But this break simply allowed him to come back to 2-3 in the second set. And Jaume Munar reacted to perfection by seizing the service of the Zurich player for the 4th time in stride to definitely make the difference.

Note that Alexander Ritschard had a sad 1st Monday in Gstaad. He had so far won a match each time for his three previous appearances in the final draw of an ATP tournament: in Gstaad – where he was beaten 6-3 6-3 in the 2nd round by Munar – in 2022, then in Marseille and Munich this year.
