DEPUTY Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata is considered to have discredited the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office. This follows Alexander’s statement that there are still sectoral egos in the law enforcement agencies of the Police and the Indonesian Prosecutor’s Office.

“Alex’s statement seems to discredit the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office, thus throwing the problem to other agencies,” said former KPK investigator Yudi Purnomo Harahap to Medcom.id, Wednesday (3/7).

According to him, the public knows that the problem of eradicating corruption is currently at the KPK. Because, there are too many controversies compared to achievements in eradicating corruption.

Furthermore, Yudi said that the coordination and supervision did not go well because of the weak leadership of the KPK. The statement that the coordination and supervision of the KPK with the Police-Prosecutor’s Office did not go well was considered as if throwing in the towel.

“Remember that it has been regulated in the KPK Law that the KPK is the coordinator in eradicating corruption, in other words, the leader of the movement to eradicate corruption,” said the former Chairman of the KPK Employee Forum.

In fact, the KPK has a function to encourage or act as a stimulus so that efforts to eradicate corruption by other law enforcement agencies become more effective and efficient. However, Yudi saw two problems that occurred within the Anti-Corruption Agency.

“That is poor communication from the KPK so that it happened like that, even though for the police alone the KPK has deputies, dirdik, dirlid and several other structures including dozens of investigators from the police, how might there be a problem,” said Yudi.

Likewise, the Prosecutor’s Office, according to him, from the prosecutor there is Johanes Tanak who is a former prosecutor. In addition, there are also structural employees from the Prosecutor’s Office including the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU).

“So, there should be no problem. I think the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office will always open their arms wide to coordinate including supervision because all of that is for the country,” he said.

Finally, Yudi asked the KPK leadership to meet with the Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin if there were problems in communication. Because, the problems of coordination and supervision were said to have never happened before.

“In the past, there were no problems related to the KPK’s duties and relations with other agencies,” concluded the member of the National Police Headquarters’ Special Task Force (Satgassus) for Corruption Prevention.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) Alexander Marwata said that the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police would close the door to coordination and supervision if any of their members were arrested by the KPK. He conveyed this during a working meeting between Commission III of the DPR and the KPK at the DPR R Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta.

“Indeed, in the KPK Law, both the old and new, there is a coordination and supervision function. Is it running well? I must say to all of you, it is not running well,” said Alexander at the Parliament Building, Monday (1/7).

Alexander said there is still ego-sectoral in both law enforcement agencies. “If we arrest friends of the prosecutors, for example, suddenly the Prosecutor’s Office closes the door to coordination and supervision. It’s difficult. Maybe it’s the same with the police,” he said. (Yon.P-5)
