Russian footballer and coach Alexander Kerzhakov ended a short collaboration with the Serbian Spartak from the city of Subotica. On November 13, the team lost once more in the national championship, and the club parted ways with its head coach.
The termination of cooperation is reported on Spartak’s social networks. It is noted that the parting took place in a friendly tone, and the team is grateful to the former coach.
The president of Spartak (Subotica), Nikola Simovic, noted that recently the team had fallen into a crisis and the decision to part with Kerzhakov seemed to be the best way out. “Alexander is a great person and coach. I want to personally thank him for everything he has done. Everyone at the club is happy to collaborate with the legend of world football, and we are sorry that it did not last longer. I wish him good luck in the future,” Simovic said.
Kerzhakov took over as coach at the Serbian club last summer. Before that, he also coached the Cypriot Karmiotissa for a short time, from February to April.
In 2017, he led the Zenit youth teams, then headed the entire Russian youth team as a coach. In 2020 he went to Tom, and in 2021 to Nizhny Novgorod.
In the fall of 2022, he left Russia because he was having a hard time with what was happening in the country.
