A Amazon announced a redesign of the app Alexa, focusing on improving smart home controls and user experience. Available for iOS and Android, the app offers simplified navigation and better personalization of smart devices.

Among the main changes is a reorganized “Home” tab, with customizable sections. The top now has shortcut buttons for quick access to devices and tools, with options to edit and choose from other shortcuts.

The “Activity” tab has been redesigned to show time-sensitive cards, displaying smart home alerts, timers, alarms, and reminders. They now take up less space by default and there is the option to discard them when not in use.

Favorites, previously in the “Devices” tab, now occupy a prominent position in the “Home” tab, allowing instant control of devices such as lights and locks with a single touch.

Additionally, when interacting with specific devices, an informational window will appear at the bottom of the screen. It eliminates the need to open separate screens and prevents the user from “getting lost” in different sections of the application.

The “Devices” section has been completely revamped for a more organized and accessible experience. In it, you will be able to see the “Groups” (equivalent to environments or rooms), presented in a horizontal line at the top of the screen.

On the rest of the screen, a list of connected devices is displayed, bringing a search bar for users to search for specific devices by typing their names. They can also be organized in different ways, such as alphabetically, by date added, or by device type.

Finally, a feature called View Map (Map View) It is being developed. However, it is available in a closed preview, only for iOS devices and requiring specific models of iPhones/iPads to work properly.

The function will allow you to view and control devices in a more intuitive way, using a home map to manage settings in different areas of the home. The feature will also work on the Echo Hub, announced last September.
