Alex Pina, creator of The Money Heist, prepare a new series Netflix inspired by the coronavirus pandemic and the increased demand for bunkers among economic elites, which skyrocketed in the wake of the coronavirus crisis and that it has even increased now following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
The starting point of this new project is a article on the proliferation of bunkers following the pandemic published in October 2021 by a Spanish newspaper. “Some of the new shelters being built were luxury underground homes. Álex Pina is the creator behind titles like ‘Red Sky’ or ‘The paper house’, one of the most watched series on Netflix and will feature a spin-off of the character from Berlin in 2023. “We are very excited to continue accompanying Álex Pina and his team. “The new agreement with Netflix is the confirmation of fruitful years in which we have produced seven seasons of three different series (‘The House of Paper’, ‘White Lines’ and ‘Red Sky’). Risky, different and written projects with total freedom”, says Pina, who also highlights that “this new stage is an extension of trust that equates us to the most important creatives of contemporary fiction and that smoothes out the differences that existed until very recently between North America and the rest of the world.” An agreement, underlines the producer and screenwriter, that reflects “Netflix’s commitment to local and talent, wherever they are.”
