He National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a new alert for snow and wind, for this Monday and Tuesday, in the mountain range of Neuquén and Río Negro. As planned, they are expected 70 centimeters of snow and gusts up 100 kilometers per hour. Look at the affected areas and the worst times.
As reported by the authorities, heavy and persistent snowfall is expected. There might be accumulated snow values between 20 and 40 cm, which might be exceeded from time to time.
At some times, the yellow alert might become in orange. This means that the snow accumulation might be around this 50 y 70 cm. In lower areas, precipitation might come in the form of rain.
As for the wind, it will reach speeds of between 60 and 75 km/h, and gusts that can exceed 100 km/h.

Aluminé Mountain Range – Chos Malal Mountain Range – Loncopué Mountain Range – Minas Mountain Range – Picunches Mountain Range – Ñorquín Mountain Range: A wind alert is in effect for Monday followingnoon and a snowfall alert is in effect for Tuesday morning.
Huiliches Mountain Range – Lácar Mountain Range – South of Aluminé: A yellow alert for snowfall is in effect from Monday morning to Tuesday morning. During the early hours of Tuesday they might reach the orange level. A yellow alert for wind is also expected for Monday followingnoon.
The lakes: A yellow alert is in effect for snowfall during the early hours of Monday and early Tuesday. It will reach the orange level during the morning, followingnoon and evening of Monday.
Alert in Río Negro: the affected areas
Bariloche – Pilcaniyeu Mountain Range – Ñorquincó Mountain Range: A yellow alert is in effect for snowfall during Sunday night and Monday evening. An orange alert will apply in the early followingnoon and morning of Monday.
Snow and wind alert in Neuquén and Río Negro: recommendations
Yellow:
1- Avoid outdoor activities.
2- Periodically remove the snow accumulated on the roofs.
3- Travel with appropriate vehicles prepared for ice and snow.
4- Ventilate vehicles and homes to avoid the accumulation of carbon monoxide.
5- Find out from the authorities. Always have an emergency backpack ready with a flashlight, radio,
documents and telephone.
Orange:
1- Avoid outdoor activities.
2- Plan an additional reserve of food and drinking water in case you leave your home. Cut off the electricity and gas supply.
3- Travel with appropriate vehicles prepared for ice and snow.
4- Stay in your vehicle, do not try to walk to get away from the storm.
5- In case you or someone else is affected by this phenomenon, contact local emergency agencies. Always have an emergency backpack ready with a flashlight, radio, documents and telephone.
