Alejandro Flores Nava is appointed director of Conapesca

MEXICO CITY.- Julio Berdegué Sacristánholder of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Developmentannounced the appointment of the Yucatecan Alejandro Flores Nava as director of the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (Conapesca).

The designation was made by the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumreported Secretary Berdegué Sacristán.

Who is Alejandro Flores Nava, new director of Conapesca?

Alejandro Flores Nava has a long history in aquaculture and fishing.

Living in Yucatán for a few years, he has served as principal Fisheries and Aquaculture officer with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Latin America y The Caribbean.

Flores Nava was the second rector of the Marist University in Yucatanreplacing Juan Carlos Seijo Gutiérrez, and left the position in 2008 after accepting the job offer of FAO.

He is a graduate of the Fisheries Engineering in Aquaculture of the Technological Institute of the Sea of Veracruz.

It has a Master of Science in Aquaculture and Fisheries Management and a PhD in Aquaculture by the University of Stirling Aquaculture Institute in it United Kingdom

It has been Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Team for South America and Representative of the FAO in Argentina and in Chile.

Until his appointment as director of Conapescaserved as Principal Fisheries and Aquaculture Officer of the FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.

We remember that Conapesca is the entity in charge of regulating and promoting fishing and aquaculture in Mexico.
