NEW YORK (AP) — Alec Baldwin is returning to “Saturday Night Live.”
But the actor, who won an Emmy for playing former President Donald Trump, isn’t reprising his role: He returned Saturday night to play Fox News host Bret Baier in the opening sketch, which A parody of this week’s interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Baldwin received a round of applause from the audience before revealing that he plays Bayer.
Harris, who was personalized by Maya Rudolph, laughed nervously after shaking hands with Baier, played by Baldwin, and said, “This joy is not ours.”
The clips allowed “Saturday Night Live” to include a number of mini-sketches, including one starring Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden, a role he has played since the show’s 50th season.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” star Michael Keaton hosted Saturday’s show, with Billie Eilish serving as disc jockey.
Baldwin has hosted “SNL” a record 17 times, but has not appeared recently. He was convicted of manslaughter for fatally shooting a cinematographer on the set of the film Rust, and his trial ended in July, with proceedings canceled.
