Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz began his preparation yesterday on the courts of the US Open, in preparation for the last Grand Slam of the year which begins next week in New York.
The organization shared images on its social media of Alcaraz’s arrival yesterday at the Queens tracks.
The Murcia native made his debut in New York with an exhibition doubles match in which he teamed up with Andre Agassi and will face Novak Djokovic and John McEnroe. Between the four of them, they have 43 Grand Slam singles titles.
“It will be fun,” said the Murcian with a smile in one of the videos shared by the organization.
The draw for the tournament will take place today, with Italian Jannik Sinner as the top seed, Djokovic second and Alcaraz third.
Alcaraz, world number 3 and recent champion of Roland Garros and Wimbledon, arrives in New York after losing at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 last week in the round of 32 against Frenchman Gael Monfils.
It was the first time this year that Alcaraz, who was making his comeback on the circuit after winning the silver medal at the Paris Olympics, had lost in his debut tournament.—EFE
