Senator Alberto Weretilneck participated this Wednesday in the international energy forum that takes place in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce and claimed improve infrastructure for the development of the energy sector, with a focus on Vaca Muerta.
“We need to discuss with the National State everything that has to do with the infrastructure of Vaca Muerta,” said the governor-elect because “Río Negro is the gateway to and from the basin, with all the good and bad that this generates.”
In this context, he said that “it is imperative that National Route 151 be fixed and that Route 22 be finished,” in addition “We have to discuss the train, with the track that crosses the entire Comahue, revive the project of the track that goes from Chichinales to Añelo and from there to Mendozawhich has less impact on cities».
Weretilneck remarked that “these are all political decisions that They do not depend on Río Negro and Neuquén, but on the National Government».
The meeting called “The future is now”, in charge of AmCham Forum, is carried out with the objective of promoting exchange between the public and private sectors on the possibilities that the energy sector presents for the development and economic growth of our country.
Regarding Vaca Muerta, he said that it is an employment opportunity. “There are more than 5,000 men and women from Río Negro who work in the basin, who work in the industry, not only in our deposits but also in those of Neuquén, with which this is a very important opportunity” and added that “the two provinces have the infrastructure crisis; everything that enters and everything that leaves Vaca Muerta passes through Río Negro, the routes are collapsed and destroyed, which is why today we have serious difficulties. It is necessary to discuss everything that is infrastructure», he remarked.
He considered that “when we talk regarding possibilities, growth, the generation of new jobs, exports, we have to think that in the micro, in the place where all the activity takes place, this generates impacts and these impacts must also be foreseen if we do not want to be late later when we have conflicts”.
He pointed out that in Río Negro “in the last two years, we have carried out a series of public hearings that validate and give social license to the projects. I consider that it is healthier and that it gives much more legal predictability.
Lastly, he assured that “we are absolutely convinced of the possibilities of the Río Negro seacoast, as well as the exit of YPF’s Vaca Muerta Sur, we also have the conditions for connectivity, for what the area means, the availability of lands and our sea. We believe that we are more competitive than the port of Bahía Blanca and in this aspect we are also going to make all the efforts as a province, from the promotion of taxes and from the establishment of the plants. so that our sea serves, either in gas or in oil, as an export factor of the Neuquén basin».
