Duran He will be 90 years old on February 15 and during this time he has dedicated his life to Medicine. So much so that she has six specialties under her arm: Pediatrics and Child Care, Digestive System, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Nutrition, Cardiology and Pneumology.
“I am not a collector of specialties”, Alberto clarifies to Medical Writing. “Learning is my joy and my pleasure”, adds the doctor, although he has been retired for many years. “I would have wanted to learn all the specialties because I like all medicine and science.” In fact, in addition to studying this degree, the first year in Zaragoza and the rest in Madrid, his homeland, he has also studied some courses in Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
For Alberto, knowledge is a necessity: “If I see something that I don’t know or that I don’t know what it comes from or why it occurs, I get very nervous and until I find the cause, if I find that sometimes it doesn’t appear, then it’s when I calm down.” “It is a constant concern”Add.

In addition to having these six medical specialties, Alberto is also an expert in other more specific areas such as newborn surgery. “I’ve always been studying everything since I was 5 or 6 years old,” she says over the phone. In fact, Alberto, between specialty and specialty, also had time to be a founding member of Society of Aeronautical and Space Medicine (Semae), who came to be in contact with NASA for medical issues. Now, Alberto has not been able to study as well as he would like for a few years, although that does not diminish his curiosity. But the lack of sight is an inconvenience for him: “I began to lose my sight to the point that I haven’t seen screens, mobile phones, the Internet, computers for several years now.” “That’s why I had to cut back on everything I was doing and I would have liked to continue,” he adds. Even so, his family continues to bring him books, magazines, articles and reports that they print for him. to feed your curiosity. Therefore, to this day, he continues to dedicate his life to what he likes the most: learning.

Although he has now lived in Mallorca for years, Alberto has also visited a few health centers in Spain, from Madrid to Cuenca, passing through two towns in Castellón. “I have worked in many places, for example in the San Carlos Clinical Hospital”, comments.
