Honduran Alberth Elis, who is concentrated with the National Team for the matches against Cuba, has a new coach in France.
Spaniard Albert Riera, 41, was named coach of Girondins de Bordeaux for the next two seasons, with one more optional, the historic French club, currently in the French Ligue 2, announced this Wednesday.
Riera, who as a player wore the colors of Girondins from 2003 to 2005 (66 games, 9 goals) and who had held the position of coach of the Slovenian club NK Celje since mid-July, succeeds David Guion and will be presented to the press on Friday .

For Alberth Elis it will be a good opportunity to establish himself as an untouchable man in the starting 11 of the Bordeaux club. The Honduran has two goals this season with Girondins. He has totaled 356 minutes and started four of the six games he has played.
A native of Manacor, like Rafael Nadal, Riera was a globe-trotting footballer, with presence in different championships (England -Manchester City and Liverpool-, Spain -Mallorca and Espanyol-, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Turkey) before beginning his career on the benches as coach of Galatasaray.
In his debut as head coach, he coached the Slovenian NK Olimpija, with whom he won the League-Cup double in 2023, before joining NK Celje.
