The Honduran striker of the Girondins de Bordeaux, Alberth Elis, was evacuated on a stretcher after a major blow to the head during an aerial duel with a player from Guingamp, Saturday at Matmut Atlantique, on the occasion of the 26th day of Ligue 2. After his evacuation at the very start of the match, the player was transported to the hospital where he arrived conscious before being placed in an artificial coma, announced Franc Bleu Girode.

The match between the Girondins and the Guingampais was interrupted for eight minutes while Elis, very stunned, was treated on the pitch surrounded by his teammates and En Avant players. The player was then evacuated on a stretcher.

The shock took place barely forty seconds into the game when Elis headed in a cross from Clément Michelin. The ball then found the crossbar before bouncing in front of the line and hitting the bar again. But on this action, Elis hit the head of Guingamp defender Donatien Gomis. If the latter quickly regained his senses, Elis was seriously stunned and treated for many minutes before being evacuated.

According to Franc Bleu Girond and the Team, Elis suffered from serious head trauma which pushed the medical team to put him into an artificial coma.
