Venezuelan starter Albert Suárez dominated the Boston Red Sox offense and was an important piece in the Baltimore Orioles’ 4-2 victory on Sunday in Major League Baseball (MLB).

The Red-legged and Golden-Orioled teams faced off at Oriole Park, where the native of San Félix, Bolívar state, had a very good start. The right-hander worked for six innings in which he allowed seven hits, struck out six, gave up no walks and gave up no runs.

Suárez’s work was supported by the offense, which produced a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth inning to lead Baltimore to its 73rd victory of the season.

Pitcher’s moment

The pitcher has already made three starts without allowing a run, although he was only able to record a victory on Sunday against Boston to leave his record at 6-4. In that span he has accumulated 17.2 scoreless innings, with 13 hits allowed, 17 strikeouts and just three walks.

Baltimore remains in the hunt for a postseason berth. It currently has a record of 73-52 (best record in the American League) tied for the lead in the Eastern Division of the new circuit with the New York Yankees.
