Argentina failed in its attempt to grow by taking advantage of the return of the democratic and republican form of government in force in the last 40 years.
All of this was possible because the enrichment of those who authoritatively rule was prioritized, abusing the power that the people gave them at the time of voting, since many times atrocities have been committed by invoking the sovereignty of the people.
“The sovereignty of the people is the collective power of society to practice the public good, under the inviolable rule of strict justice.”
Thus, it has been said “The people are not sovereign but of what is just. The people are not sovereign over my freedom, my intelligence, my property, my person, which I have from the hand of God, but, on the contrary, they have no sovereignty except to prevent me from being deprived of my freedom, of my intelligence, my assets, my person. When the people or their representatives, instead of fulfilling this duty, are the first to violate him, the people or their representatives are not only criminals, they are also perjurers and traitors” (Juan Bautista Alberdi, Selected Works).
Today the Argentine people have consecrated as president a liberal economist – Javier Milei – who absolutely coincides with the legal precepts and ethical norms mandated by the National Constitution, constituting a concrete hope to realize Alberdi’s ideas, putting an end to so many frustrations and mistakes that They have led us to the social and economic crisis that we Argentines suffer.
