French justice has closed the case of actor Alain Delon, in whose house the police found 72 weapons this year, although he did not have a firearms license. According to the AFP agency, this was announced on Friday by a public prosecutor from the Montargis region south of Paris, where Delon’s residence is located. The 88-year-old actor was threatened with charges of illegal possession of weapons, but due to his poor health, the prosecutor’s office postponed the case.
The extensive arsenal was discovered by police during a house search in February based on a report from a guardianship judge. The official entrusted with the legal protection of Delon during a visit to his home discovered that the actor was in possession of a firearm.
Delon lives on a vast estate in Douchy, about 100 kilometers south of Paris. According to the newspaper Le Parisien, Delon’s daughter Anouchka suggested the house search, saying that she was afraid that her father would harm himself. The police discovered a total of 72 weapons as well as a private shooting range.
Prosecutor Jean-Cédric Gaux said on Friday that Delon could not be questioned due to his “fragile state of health” and doctors’ statements. Weapons and ammunition taken from the estate by the police will be destroyed, the prosecutor added.
Delon became famous mainly in films in the 60s, since the 90s he has appeared on screen only occasionally. The actor is in poor health and has recently been written about mainly in connection with his children’s complaints against Hiromi Rollin, who is alternately referred to as Delon’s nurse and partner.
